These woods for the djembes and doundouns are in increasingly high demand, but they are not (yet) endangered species. The awareness of the importance of preserving these woods has increased in recent years, with the result that there are now various tree projects in Guinea aimed at replenishing and preserving the growth of these trees.

We have also started a small project in Hamana, aiming to increase the awareness of the inhabitants of replenishing the stocks of these trees, benefiting the local eco-system while also satisfying the tremendous demand for these trees from the djembe and furniture businesses.
