Djembemoves would like to introduce you to West African drumming and dance in this joint participation event. We will guide it and give you the opportunity to try out the drumming and/or the dance as you like. You can change anytime during this event. This workshop is for people with limited or no experience in West African drumming, but who would like to get to know better this form of percussion music. The workshop will introduce the participants to the correct techniques in striking the djembe, and in producing the sounds. The participants will also be shown some basic rhythmical patterns and signals, the aim being to be able to play some of the foundations of West African drumming already at the end of the workshop. |

This 4 week course will introduce the participants to the musical themes of West african drumming. They will learn the correct techniques in striking the djembe, and in producing the sounds. The participants will also be shown one or two traditional rhythms from Guinea and/or Mali and will learn some basic rhythmical patterns and signals that are traditionally played with it, the aim being to be able to play some of the foundations of West African drumming at the end of this 4 week course.
