These workshops are for those with limited or no experience of West African dance styles.
Contents:
Generally the following items are passed on in every workshop:
- a feeling for the music and the rhythm being played
- rhythmic patterns as an orientation help for the dancers
- differences between traditional and modern
- flexibility of the body and typical postures
- isolation of the individual body parts
- enjoyment of dancing

Particular focus points for the beginners´ workshops:
- introduction to West African rhythms (timing)
- the movement of the spine
- the movement and isolation of the breastbone
- simple steps to simple rhythms
- changeovers from one step to the next
(preparation for later small dance sequences)
- maintaining balance in rotations
- reacting to signals from the djembe
- small choreographies
